Yana Dee is now hiring interns for the Summer 2023 Season. If you are a college student seeking real world experience to complete your design, fashion, business, or marketing degree, this opportunity is for you! Depending on your experience and learning objectives, you may be placed at our sewing studio, downtown store, or both locations.

Yana Dee Inc is a socially conscious and environmentally ethical apparel company based in Traverse City, Michigan. Yana Dee produces and distributes original clothing & accessories for people of all ages. Yana’s original designs are sold locally at our store in Downtown Traverse City, regionally at art fairs and festivals, and worldwide at yanadee.com and on Etsy.
Position Overview
With two unique worksites, your internship can be tailored to meet your learning goals. At our studio, you would work directly with the designer Yana and other sewers, observing the design process firsthand and participating in garment production. At our store in Downtown Traverse City, you would gain experience in marketing, inventory management, and direct sales.
Requirements
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must be enrolled in a higher education program and ready to complete internship hours as a graduation requirement. Relevant experience is also required. Studio placement requires sewing experience (you do not need commercial experience, but you should at least be comfortable and confident sewing on a home machine). Store placement requires retail or customer service experience. Lastly, we are seeking interns who’s values align with our business. We believe in sustainability, community, & body positivity.
Schedule
We are seeking interns with a flexible schedule, available for up to 20 hours per week, approximately June-August. Studio interns must be available weekdays, and store interns must be available weekends. The internship start date, end date, and total hours are flexible.
Compensation & growth potential
This is a paid internship! The starting rate is $15 per hour or more, depending on experience. You may also receive an end of summer bonus, depending on performance and follow through. Successful interns can count on a strong letter of recommendation, and exceptional interns are first to be considered when we make long term hires..
