Founded in 2004, Yana Dee is a socially conscious and environmentally ethical apparel company based in Traverse City, Michigan. Yana Dee designs, produces, and sells original clothing & accessories for people of all ages. Yana Dee products are sold locally at our store in Downtown Traverse City, regionally at art fairs and festivals, and worldwide at yanadee.com and on Etsy.
Position Overview
With two unique worksites, your work or internship experience can be tailored to meet your abilities, experience, and objectives. At our studio, you would work directly with Yana and her seam team, observing the design process firsthand and participating in garment production. At our store in Downtown Traverse City, you would work with our sales team in marketing, inventory management, and direct sales. Interns and employees may work at either, or both, locations.
Requirements
We are seeking interns & employees who’s values align with our business. We believe in sustainability, community, & body positivity. To be eligible for this opportunity, you must also have relevant education or work experience. Studio placement requires sewing experience. Experience sewing on an industrial machine is preferred; you should at least be comfortable and confident sewing on a home machine. Store placement requires retail or customer service experience.
Schedule
Studio interns & employees must be available weekdays; some weekend availability is preferred to join our store team. Start date, end date, and weekly schedule are flexible.
Compensation & growth potential
Competitive compensation is based on experience and availability. This could be seasonal or long term employment, with room to advance and earn more based on performance and commitment.
Internship Details
If you are a college student seeking real world experience to complete your design, fashion, business, or marketing degree, this opportunity is for you! We have successfully hosted interns from a number of different colleges in the past. However, you do not need to be enrolled in school to apply as an intern.
