Interning at Yana Dee was an amazing experience! I loved working in a positive environment, surrounded by beautiful clothes. I learned merchandising techniques, customer service strategies, and all about ethical fashion! The Yana Dee environment is fun, positive, and overall a lovely place to work.
My internship allowed for me to complete the requirements in my fashion design major at Western Michigan University. In addition to helping me complete my undergraduate degree, my internship confirmed my interest in working for a company that values sustainability. I learned what it takes to run a local boutique, and solidified my passion for small business! My projects & passions can be found at www.rosesoma.com if you’d like to keep up with me!

When I started my internship at Yana Dee two years ago, I was excited to see what the company was all about. Now, I am still working at the store and can honestly say that Yana Dee is the best place I have worked at by far. I am currently working towards getting my bachelor’s degree in marketing at Colorado State University Online. Working at Yana Dee has helped with many of my course work, because I get hands on experience with different aspects of marketing.

Yana Dee was the best internship I could have asked for! I was always excited to go to work, because the environment was so friendly and wonderful. I was able to acquire new sewing techniques, retail etiquette, and even got the opportunity to set up and sell at an art show! My experience as a Yana Dee intern was abundantly helpful, as I now run and own my own ethical clothing store in Escanaba, Mi (Upcycled Hippie).

I loved being able to get hands-on experience in all aspects of the business during my internship by helping run the store, interacting and selling to customers in-person, and through social media. I used my creativity to put together displays, and utilized my sewing skills in the studio. As a fashion design major, learning more about how the design and business sides of a fashion brand work together was really educational. Currently, I am working part-time as a sewer at Yana Dee’s studio, and working on my own clothing designs for school. I hope to own my own clothing brand in the future. You can see my current work on my online portfolio.
