In June 2026, Michigan clothing designer and maker Yana Dee released a collection of her 9 most recent wrap dress designs to her online store.
While these dresses are new to the online world, Yana and I have been getting to know these limited edition fabrics and final dress designs for quite some time. Most of the dresses in this collection are designed around unique, limited edition deadstock fabric that we picked out in person in Los Angeles back in March of 2025. So, we've been thinking about, looking at, and talking about these specific colors and prints for well over a year. Selecting the bodice colors and details is fun, but it is also a little stressful. We certainly feel the pressure to make decisions based on what we believe will resonate with our customers, and not just our own personal taste.
We have been "soft-releasing" these dresses at our brick-and-mortar store in downtown Traverse City, as soon as each batch of new dresses is finished at the studio. I find it so valuable and informative to get to know these dresses by seeing in-person shoppers try them on, before I take the time to write descriptions for online shoppers. It takes time to get to know each individual piece Yana designs and creates, and I appreciate that I had that space with this original collection.
Whether or not you are new to Yana Dee wrap dresses, you might want some help deciding which dress is the best for you. Just to be clear, all of these dresses can be worn in any season, for any reason. What you wear is totally up to you! This wrap dress guide is designed to help you quickly hone in on something you will love to wear. All of these dresses have some things in common. They are all made from breathable, natural fiber based fabrics. They are all adjustable, versatile, and easy to size (with fit usually extending into maternity with ease.) There is no "right" length for a wrap dress, so you can have great success with any of these dresses, even if the hem hits quite differently than pictured on the model.
Without further ado, I extend to you my "best use" assessment for each new dress!
Best Multipurpose Summer Dresses
This category is the prefect place to start, because it is summer now! If you have a special occasion coming up, it is smart to invest in a dress that can impress, yet is still casual enough to get lots more use out of this season. Pro tip: debut this dress at an event, to present your freshest self when it counts the most. Then, re-wear all summer!
River Jasper Wrap Dress
The River Jasper Wrap Dress is made from Yana Dee's newest color of Organic Cotton Butter Knit, River (yes, we are making Butter Bras from this color too!). This soft, stretchy fabric is soooo comfortable, and the ruffle makes it look extra fancy and prevents cling. Because this dress is stretchy top to bottom, this is also the best option for maternity, post-partum, and nursing.
Lilith Wrap Dress
This grayscale dress is such a chameleon. It is savvy and sophisticated enough for semi-formal and cocktail attire, but still wouldn't feel overdressed for everyday work outfits or play dates. It is not hard to imagine reaching for this dress over and over again. Bonus points: this dress is going to layer so naturally into fall and winter outfits. While this dress is elegant as a stand-alone outfit for summer, layering it into fall is a great way to dress it down for more regular wear. This color scheme is easy to match to. This dress would play nice with boots, coats, cardigans, and scarves.
Alani Wrap Dress
This dress is ready for a summer party! This dress wants to be at a beach wedding, and the farmers market, and the art fair, and brunch, and the backyard, and the deck, and the boat. This dress is quite obviously your new favorite vacation dress, too.
Best Event Wrap Dress
Only one dress in this release stands up to a strictly "formal" dress code. If Red isn't your color, don't worry! We have this dress in Black and Amethyst too!
Red Valerie Wrap Dress
This dress is really stunning! This dress would love to be worn by a mother-of-the-bride (or groom) at a Fall or Winter Wedding. The Red works well in the summer too, but the fabric and sleeves may be too much (unless the event is air conditioned.) Featuring real silk, this formal dress is definitely not suited for everyday wear... although with such an adjustable fit, you will be pulling it out of your closet for special occasions in many years to come.
Best Everyday Dresses
While dressing up for special occasions is fun, most days you probably just want to look decent and comfortable, quickly. This is especially true during the summer in Northern Michigan, as we rush to soak up every drop of sunshine and fun, to make memories that will sustain us through the long, dark, cold winter. These are the dresses you can throw on for instant summer fun, anytime!
Aries Wrap Dress
Featuring our new lightweight jersey color "Seaglass", this dress was made with beaches in mind. This is the shortest, lightest weight dress in this recent collection, making it the top choice for hot weather.
Daisy Wrap Dress
Voted "most fun", this wrap dress is especially suited for casual backyard parties, birthdays, and other fun (but not formal) spring & summer occasions.
Bluebird Wrap Dress
This is possibly the most versatile, all-seasons dress in this whole collection. It can layer or fly solo, and the colors fit well into any season. This dress will feel like an old friend in no time, and quickly become your standby staple.
